Students will study several historic religious traditions and belief systems in World Religion Studies in an effort to develop a good understanding of civilizations that existed throughout various periods of history in different parts of the world.
Philosophies of various religions will be viewed in World Religion Studies with an eye toward historic and cultural development with the understanding that fundamental human orientations at critical periods of history provided opportunities for varied development. World Religion Studies colleges and universities provide programs that allow students to consider social structures of today with entirely new perspectives.
World Religion Studies university programs promote cultural understanding, religious freedom, and an appreciation for diversity of cultural values. The study of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, Sikhism, Confucianism, Taoism, Jainism, Shinto, Sikhism, and Zoroastrianism may all be incorporated into the curriculums of a World Religion Studies courses. Students will gain insight into religious belief systems through World Religion Studies courses, as programs of study aim to encourage understanding and appreciation of various viewpoints of global cultures and of cultural diversity.
